One to One Mentoring

Big Brothers Mentoring

The Big Brothers mentoring program provides boys and young men with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests, and is supported by our experienced case-workers. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.

The Big Brothers mentoring program usually requires two regularly scheduled outings a month of a few hours each and a minimum of a one year commitment.

The program strives to do the following:

  • provide a role model and a friend for boys and young men.
  • promote the importance of staying in school and healthy relationships with family and peers.
  • instill trust and self-confidence in order to make healthy decisions.
  • encourage leadership skills and independent thinking.
  • and above all, make a difference while having fun.

Virtual Mentorship

We recognize the unique and long-term impact that social isolation and uncertainty can have on the mental health and well-being of young people. In an effort to counteract these effects, BBBS Cornwall has been working hard to adapt existing services and develop new programs to ensure children and youth in our community still have access to the Mentors they need to get through this difficult time.

The Go Girls! program consists of seven mentoring sessions, held over a 7-10 week period, within school facilities. Each 1.5-2 hour-long session is loosely structured around four themes: physical activity, healthy eating, self-esteem, and communication skills.

Couples with Kids

LB Skylar BB Simon BS Natalie

In today’s fast paced world we have a program where you and your spouse can volunteer together! The Couples for Kids program sees married couples spend time with a Little Brother or Little Sister doing things that you all like to do. Paint a picture, learn to cook gourmet foods or take up golf – these activities are for the three of you to decide. Spend time with your partner and bring some magic into the life of a child at the same time.
